The Davids' wedding and reception will take place outdoors at David Clark Smith's childhood home in Lexington, North Carolina.
Lexington is a small town (world-famous for its barbecue!). It has a very quaint pedestrian-friendly Uptown, and most of our wedding events are within a very comfortable walking distance from Uptown. The wedding and reception venue itself is just a few blocks from the after-party on Main Street and there will be complimentary shuttle service to and from Holiday Inn Express & Suites, and Hampton Inn Express for the rehearsal dinner, wedding, reception, and after-party.

The Candy Factory*
A "confectionery time capsule" in the heart of Uptown Lexington, this authentically old-fashioned candy shop features everything from rich artisanal chocolate creations made in-house, to retro candies you enjoyed as a kid and probably can't find anywhere else except here. The confectionery treats are displayed among antique candy-making equipment and vintage collectables. The jelly bean section and the chocolate and truffle counter deserve special mention.
This home decor, furniture, and florist shop is so much more. Many of the beautiful pieces for sale are created from reclaimed or reused materials, an important goal for owner Sean Bishop, "because we live in a disposable society, where things are often discarded when they have uses in other ways." Located in the lobby of the old March Hotel almost every object has an interesting story, so be sure to stop by and say hi to Sean and his beloved rescue dog Chestnut.
Established in 1919 by W.E. Conrad and E. Odell Hinkle this family owned and operated grocery store is famous for its homemade pimento cheese and chicken salad (DCS stocks up every time he's in town). Stepping inside is like stepping back in time; almost nothing has changed - including the signage - since it first opened its doors. In 1927 Mr. Conrad sold his interest to Mr. Hinkle after an illness. Instead of changing the name of the store to "Hinkle's Grocery", Mr. Hinkle decided it would be cheaper to just leave the sign up, so the name and the sign have remained the same ever since.
This independent mom & pop bookstore tucked behind the Old Courthouse on Lawyer's Row features special sections for local authors and local / regional history. "You're not a real town if you don't haver a bookstore," a sign states on the store's wall. We couldn't agree more.
According to this pottery shop's owner Tommy Davis: "Each piece of pottery we create holds a story, an invitation to find joy in the mundane and meaning in the everyday." Located directly on Courthouse Square almost every piece is handmade by local artists. Adjoining DSR's favorite local coffee shop, Perfect Blend, this pottery shop is the perfect place to browse while waiting for your coffee order.
Opened in 2016 by Saro Vay and his brothers, David, Vonnie and Sanya Vay, this Lexington favorite makes fresh donuts and pastries in-house daily. If you happened to live in Greenpoint with the Davids, this is the local equivalent of "Moe's Doughs."
Established in 1962 by Wayne Monk, who as a teenager worked under pit-master Warner Stamey, it is world famous for its distinctive Lexington-style barbecue, and is consistently ranked one of the best barbecue joints in the state and the country.
Sophie's started out as a cozy neighborhood wine bar in 2015, and has grown to include a delicious menu that gives a contemporary take on classic Southern cuisine. If you're looking for a great brunch place this is it!
A perfect place for lunch if you are staying at Holiday Inn! Overlooking the beautiful rolling vine-dotted hills of Childress Vineyard, the Bistro prides itself on using fresh local ingredients with a new menu for each season, carefully created to complement the vineyard's wine selections.
Located in DCS's grandfather's former doctor's office and pharmacy, this casual lunch spot offers delicious wood-fired BBQ and classic Southern Comfort food. DCS's favorite: Southern-style green beans. DSR's favorite: the jalapeno pimento cheese sandwich. Stop by, say 'hi' to Bridgett herself, and tell them Dr. David's grandson sent you!
This is the oldest barbecue establishment in Uptown Lexington that still cooks on pits. It started out as an ice cream shop next to Coble Dairy, and built a small barbecue pit to have something to sell in the winter when the ice cream business slowed. And the rest is history.
Locally owned and operated this authentic Thai cuisine bistro is ranked one of the best around. Its signature dishes are a delectable blend of four primary flavors: sweet, sour, salty, and spicy. DSR's favorite menu item: Grilled Salmon Mango.
